A Mansion Frozen in Time
Walking through the front door felt like stepping into a home where the family had simply stepped out for the day and never came back. Christmas decorations were still up throughout the house, suggesting the property was abandoned sometime around the holiday season. A grand piano sat in the main living area. A chandelier still hung from the ceiling. Stained glass windows filtered light across rooms filled with untouched china, wedding glasses, and children’s toys, including a well-worn Dr. Seuss book left on the floor.
Unlike most abandoned properties, which are ransacked or stripped of anything valuable, this house had been left almost completely undisturbed. That rarity is what makes it such a significant find in the world of urban exploration.
The Basement: Billiards, a Bar, and a Flooded Piano
Down in the basement, the story continues. A billiards room and a bar sit quiet, waiting for guests who never returned. In one corner, an old piano had partially rotted into the floor after years of water damage from flooding. Animal bones were scattered nearby, a stark reminder of how long nature has been reclaiming this space.
A Second Building With a Surprising Past
The property is not limited to a single structure. A second building on site appears to have had a very different life. Once home to an indoor pool, the space was later converted into what looks like a sober living or addiction recovery facility. Signage referencing addiction recovery, along with multiple bedrooms and bunk beds, points to this building having served as a retreat or transitional housing space for people working through recovery.
This layered history, from private family estate to recovery facility, adds a completely different dimension to the story of this abandoned property.
The Garage Surprise: An Abandoned Corvette
Perhaps the most unexpected discovery of the entire exploration was sitting in the garage. A Corvette had been left behind, parked and abandoned along with the rest of the property. Inside the tape deck, still loaded, was a cassette tape of Billy Joel. It is a small detail, but one that speaks volumes about how suddenly this property was left behind.
