While exploring the streets of the Azores and Madeira, I found myself drawn to the incredible variety of doors on homes throughout these Portuguese islands.
Some were centuries old, worn by salt air and time, with peeling paint and weathered wood telling quiet stories of the past. Others were freshly painted in bold colours, reflecting pride, personality, and local character.
This photo series captures those details that most people walk past, the textures, colours, and craftsmanship that make everyday streets feel alive with history. Each door is a small window into the culture, architecture, and lived experiences of island life in Portugal.
