In the past with homes like this where the upstairs is so badly decayed and full of antiques it’s usually a sign that a very elderly person was living here and wasn’t able to get upstairs.
Here, the main floor was almost as decayed as the upstairs, this room seemed to be the worst of the main floor.
My guess was that this was an office, as far as how long it’s been abandoned – the last calendar read 1998.
Photos from just about 1 year ago show that a great deal of the plaster on the ceiling has come down in that time. Pictures from two others who were here 1 year ago show the same amount of clutter, decay and disarray but not as much plaster on top of everything
When I approached this house, I had a rough idea of what it was like inside. I had seen photos by Brennan from @uncharted.travel.
But looking in the windows as I was finding my way in I realized just how special this house was going to be.
I had no idea how good the upstairs was, it was a crumbling time capsule from several generations ago.

There was a whole photo album of Victorian era portraits, I flip through it in my video.
