Recently, My friends at Lume Cube sent me a new product to try out, it was a set of studio lights called the Lume Cube Studio Panel Lighting Kit.

The kit comes with not one but two massive Edge-Lit bicolor panels, each with a rechargeable lithium battery and custom-engineered barn doors that let you shape your light the way you want.

The kit also includes two 70-inch extendable light stands and a remote control, all contained within a durable carrying bag.

My idea for these lights was to call up my friend Matt who is a very talented guitar player and to take him to an abandoned theatre to bring the room back and stage to life and hold a private concert in the abandoned theatre using only these lights – this video is the final result of that idea!

Enjoy the show!

For the month of June, Lume Cube is allowing me to offer my followers 15% off any purchase on their website using the code DAVE15 and this link right here:

Thanks to the long battery life of the panels, the barn doors, the easy-to-set-up light stands and the carrying case, I was able to get in easily with all of the required gear to make this idea a reality!

I set Matt up on stage in the dark decaying abandoned theatre, with the constant sound of rain water pouring in through a hole in the roof, I set up the panel lights on center stage and aimed them at Matt as he set up and tuned his guitar. The ability to adjust the brightness and the temperature allowed me to capture some great high-key and low-key images, showing Matt as either a mysterious silhouette or showing him standing on the bright stage with the background illuminated.

Taking things a step further, we brought along smoke bombs to get the true rock star look and the lights really brought out the reds and purples making for some very dramatic footage!
