In this short video, my friend Motley Kiwi and I are attempting to explore an abandoned motel with a swimming pool full of water. We entered the location with ease, thinking we did so without garnering the attention of anyone in the office building next door.
We both make our way to the swimming pool to check it out, then Kiwi heads off on his own as I start at the pool.
I captured a few photos and then got started with my video.
As I am filming the hot tub I heard footsteps on broken glass, I figured it was Motley Kiwi.I heard a voice call out that was not kiwi, it said “Hey”
Turning around, I am met with two local police officers, one of them with his machine gun pointed in my direction. He asked what I was doing here, who I am and if I am alone.
I quickly explained who I am, what I am doing, why I am doing it and that I have a friend named Allan somewhere in the building.
They ask me to remove my camera bag and place my camera on the ground, with one officer watching me, the other searches my bag to ensure I am not carrying any tools for breaking and entering or stealing copper.
We eventually found Motley Kiwi, the officers loosened up and we ended up having a good chat about things, they apologized for the whole gun thing and sent us on our way!
Phew!
