Abandoned Time Capsule House 2018 | Everything Left Behind
About one year ago my exploring partner and I approached this Abandoned Time Capsule House, we were uneasy right off the bat after seeing some trees that had been freshly cut and trimmed along the long driveway.
We approach what looks like an abandoned house, looking in the windows we are certain of it, it looks like it may be a time capsule inside.
But it’s all locked up, so we walk away and don’t return.
Fast Forward a year later and I have this house on my mind, wondering if the gods of abandonment have made this house accessible. I take a drive and bring my gear…hoping for better luck.
I park my car well off site and wait for the perfect time to make my dash up the driveway. I get to the house and everything seems exactly the same, except one thing….now there is a way inside.
Approaching a home that you have no info on and no way of knowing if other explorers have been inside is a unique experience. Your senses are on fire, because what if it’s NOT abandoned, what if someone checks on it regularly?
I make my way inside and the first sense is smell – this house smells abandoned, then sound – I call out, I listen….silence.
Next – Sight – WOW, this is a true time capsule house. Everything in its place EVERYTHING. I have never seen pictures from inside so I have no idea what I am about to see…so I walk in and step gently, walking room to room with my jaw on the floor.
As I’ve stated previously, finding an abandoned time capsule house and having no idea what you are going to find in each room as you explore is come of the most exciting things about exploring.
This amazing house was no different, every room was a surprise especially this computer room and office upstairs.
I was immediately reminded of my Grandfather, who passed in 2011. He used to call me over all the time to help him with his computer, he was always having problems with his computer and it was hilarious because his PC problems were the quickest easiest fixes.
He also had this same set up with a scanner and a printer and he was determined to scan as many photos and negatives as possible and then re-print them himself on his computer printer.
The computer even has a 3.5 inch floppy drive!!
This is a sight that I have seen many may times in an abandoned house where the elderly owners have passed away.
A main floor room, designed to be a dining room or a living room that was converted to a bedroom so the elderly pereson didn’t have to go upstairs anymore.
This abandoned time capsule house had 4 bedrooms each with the beds still made. This room also had a piano, a sewing machine and a television.
The fact there has been very little disturbed here since the previous owners lived here makes it feel so much more like a home rather than an abandoned house.
Although it’s sad to see someones life left behind, it was nice to see that there was very few photographs left behind. Other things around the house also indicate that family had come to remove items as well notes left that certain people wanted certain things.
I am not familiar with the history of the house but the last date I found on a newspaper was 2013 & a note asking those that enter to respect the elderly couple’s home leads me to believe they moved into a assisted living facility.
The house is in pretty rough shape in some areas & I feel that it won’t take much for some areas to collapse.
