1960’s MILLIONAIRES ABANDONED $12,000,000 Mid Century Mansion

The best description for this mind blowing abandoned mansion came from Josh G on Ethans video, so thanks to Josh for your amazing research.

Josh says: “This home is a true time capsule. Located in one of the city’s wealthiest areas and surrounded by opulent mansions, this original home belonged to a wealthy elderly couple that made their fortune in Northern Ontario’s natural resource mining industry.

Reading the obituaries of the owners who passed in 2015 and 2020, it seems both came from well-to-do backgrounds and are what people would refer to as being “old money” families.

While very outdated now, this house would have been ultra-modern and high-end when it was built in the 1960s.

Most of the kitchen fixtures are original as are a lot of the bathrooms and light fixtures.

I would probably be right to say that the couple likely were of the mentality of not spending money on what they perceived to be pointless upgrades (new kitchen, bathrooms, etc) when the old, original stuff was working just fine.

Today, the younger generation (baby boomers and up) are more into modernizing stuff and having the latest/greatest technology as opposed to saving money with a “we’ll fix it or replace it when it’s broken” philosophy like that of that of people born during the 1920s and 1930s.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself!
