My next feature abandoned house was an absolute treat to explore.

Like the best houses out there, they don’t look like much from the outside, but boy does that story get good once you get inside.

This house was a step back in time that we don’t often get to see – especially the upstairs.

There was furniture, clothes, family photos, school books and more dating back several decades.

And the decay, crumbling plaster, peeling wallpaper – this one had it all and it was an absolute pleasure to photograph.

This is an absolutely unbelievable abandoned house in Ontario Canada with so much to see inside.

The last dates in the house are in the 1990’s and the items left behind go back well over 100 years. Family photos, very old books, antique furniture and so much more.

In the past with homes like this where the upstairs is so badly decayed and full of antiques it’s usually a sign that a very elderly person was living here and wasn’t able to get upstairs.

Here, the main floor was almost as decayed as the upstairs, this room seemed to be the worst of the main floor.

My guess was that this was an office, as far as how long it’s been abandoned – the last calendar read 1998.

Photos from just about 1 year ago show that a great deal of the plaster on the ceiling has come down in that time. Pictures from two others who were here 1 year ago show the same amount of clutter, decay and disarray but not as much plaster on top of everything

When I approached this house, I had a rough idea of what it was like inside. I had seen photos by Brennan from @uncharted.travel.

But looking in the windows as I was finding my way in I realized just how special this house was going to be.

I had no idea how good the upstairs was, it was a crumbling time capsule from several generations ago.

Here is a look at some of the old family photos that I found amongst the ruins.

There was a whole photo album of Victorian era portraits, I flip through it in my video.

There were so many interesting items and scenes in this house that I took several close up and detail photos.  I was also drawn to the details in the walls and the wallpaper.

2025 UPDATE VISIT

🏚 A Return Visit to a Crumbling Abandoned Farmhouse Time Capsule in Ontario

There’s something about these old abandoned houses that sticks with you. Some places you explore once and never think about again, but others leave you curious—haunted, even—wondering how much time and decay have changed them.

That’s exactly how I felt after visiting this incredible abandoned farmhouse in Ontario back in 2022. From the outside, it looked like any other forgotten house: a sagging roof, peeling paint, and windows broken by time and weather. But inside? Inside was a whole other story. This house was like stepping into a living, breathing time capsule, filled with furniture, books, clothing, family photos, and antiques that dated back more than 100 years.

I knew I had to come back.

Exploring What Time Left Behind

Fast forward to today, and I finally made that return visit. I wasn’t sure what I’d find or if the house would still be standing. These places can change so quickly—floors collapse, roofs cave in, and sometimes, entire sections just disappear.

Approaching the house, I could already see the difference. The decay had worsened. The porch sagged even lower, parts of the roof looked ready to give way, and the air felt heavy with the smell of damp wood and mold. But as always, it’s what’s inside that truly tells the story.

Inside the Decay: A Time Capsule Frozen in Ruin

The moment I stepped through the door, it felt like stepping back in time—again. The main floor was cluttered with the remnants of another life: antique furniture, old schoolbooks, family portraits, and everyday objects that somehow survived the passing decades. The walls were still covered in peeling wallpaper, the ceilings crumbling with huge chunks of plaster missing.

It was clear that nature had taken a much bigger toll since my last visit. In some rooms, debris from the collapsing ceiling covered everything. What struck me most was how fragile it all felt, like the entire house was hanging on by a thread. Every step upstairs was a gamble.

The Upstairs: Hidden Stories and Rare Finds

Despite the risks, I made my way upstairs, where the real treasures of this house waited. The decay was far worse, with soft floors and even a few long-dead raccoons in the corners. But scattered among the ruins were incredible finds: vintage clothing, untouched furniture, and a dusty old photo album filled with portraits from the Victorian era. Faces from another century, forgotten but still watching over the house they once called home.

I’ve explored plenty of abandoned places over the years, but there’s something different about homes like this. They hold memories. They tell stories. And sadly, they won’t last forever.

Before It’s Gone for Good

Photos I’ve seen from just a year ago show how much more intact this place used to be. In just twelve months, huge sections of the ceiling have come down, and the decay has accelerated at a shocking pace. That’s the reality with spots like this—if you don’t visit when you have the chance, they’re often gone before you know it.

This abandoned farmhouse in Ontario is one I’ll never forget. A perfect mix of history, mystery, and the slow but steady power of nature taking back what was once hers.
