This time last year I made a photo montage video with my images from abandoned places set to the song Sound of Silence, originally performed by Simon and Garfunkel and then covered in 2015 by Disturbed. The video was widely well received and one of my favourite projects from 2016.
Recently a very good and long time friend of mine and his band The Jay Diem Band recorded a song he had written when his Grandmother passed away, That song is called “Walls”, and just like Sound of Silence did, this song immediately caught my attention and I started visualizing how I interpreted that song and knowing why he wrote the song, it took on a special meaning to me.
Â
I asked his permission to use his song for my next project, he quickly agreed and I got to work right away.
Â
Studying the words to this song closely and listening to it over and over, I had my perfect vision. With some help and inspiration from my wife I started building the video.

Lyrics to “Walls” Written by Jamie Derek Moore, Performed by The Jay Diem Band (Feat. The Kac Himself)
It’s been running round my head Just a little after nine
As I look into your eyes, to see the light
And I know what’s in your heart
In a crowded empty room
It’s been going on so long, with broken wings
(Chorus)
To wake in the night
To bathe in the light
When the walls fall down this time
When the walls come down in time
When the walls fall down this time, for you and I
Is there nothing I can say
So I do a little more
And we look the other way, until you’re gone
It’s been coming for some time
As you start to fade away
And we’re all together now, to see you go
(Chorus)
To wake in the night
To bathe in the light
When the walls fall down this time
When the walls come down in time
When the walls fall down this time, for you and I
